Antique Korean Red Blue Jewel Tone Silk Damask Dragon Hanbok Formal Dress
This antique Korean red blue jewel tone silk damask dragon Hanbok formal dress dates from the 1940s. It is made of a jewel tone color burgundy red and grayish blue silk damask weave brocade fabric with a woven decorative pattern design of dragons roundels medallions and clouds of smoke. This beautiful Hanbok Korean traditional dress would have been worn by a married woman for formal events, wedding ceremonies, celebrations and festivals. The two piece outfit includes a chima long full skirt with a wrap around style tie waist and is unlined. The skirt measures 41 inches long, 32 inches wide and has a 64 inch wide waistband with the adjustable tie straps. Included is a matching fabric jeogori short cropped jacket with white trim edging, long full wide sleeves with fitted cuffs, an open front with no closure and is lined in a pink silk fabric. The top measures 10 1/2 inches long, with a 38 inch chest, 16 inch long sleeves and an 18 inch back. It is in good condition, with only two small frayed rips on the skirt (see close-up). This is truly a rare and wonderful piece of antique traditional Korean wearable art!
