American astronaut, naval aviator, electrical engineer, aeronautical engineer and fighter pilot.
Eleventh person to walk on the Moon during the Apollo 17 Mission in 1972
As he re-entered the Apollo Lunar Module after Harrison Schmitt on their third and final lunar excursion, he was the last person to walk on the Moon.
He was also a part of the Gemini 9A and Apollo 10 as one of the third group of astronauts to participate in the space programs in 1963
