From the time of the city’s founding in 1823, the citizens of Jackson have shown a concerned about protecting their lives and property from the tragedy of fire out of control.
The city was protected for many years by citizens who accepted civic responsibility of serving as volunteer firefighters. In 1893, the city fathers recognized that a fire department made up of paid members more effectively protect the community and they established a paid fire department. This book is a testimony to the men and women of the Jackson Fire Department who over the past 100 years have made a career of serving their fellow man.
