    Description

This is a Haddock modified 135cc IAME Komet B-Bomb K-99 rotary valve engine for vintage kart racing.
The cylinder has five intake ports.
The cylinder muff and the crankcase have been modified so that in addition to the two main transfer ports, the two auxiliary transfer ports and the one boost port are all fed from the crankcase.
There are two large exhaust ports.
The cylinder bore size is 56.34mm and the cylinder is fitted with a TKM
    piston
    .
The intake system is controlled by a rotary valve and uses a K-30 big bore single carb intake manifold.
No big bore carb comes with the engine.
In addition, the engine comes with a MISI dual carb intake manifold for two small bore carburetors in case you want to run dual small bore carbs instead of a big bore single carb.
The dual small bore carbs that come with the engine are one Tillotson HL-264B-980 modified single pumper alcohol carb (rear carb) and one Tillotson HL-264B modified single pumper alcohol carb (front carb).
Back in the day, cylinder stud failure was not uncommon.
To prevent this problem the cylinder studs on this engine were replaced with 3/8” studs and the cylinder muff and the cylinder head were drilled out to accommodate the larger cylinder studs.
The engine comes with a Motoplat ignition system, a third bearing support, an extension shaft, and a curved exhaust header.
No Motoplat coil comes with the engine.
If desired, straight exhaust headers are available from RLV Exhaust Systems.
The piston, the piston rings, the rod top end bearing, the rod bottom end bearing, the main crankshaft bearings, the 3
    rd
bearing, and the rotary valve are in good condition.
A starter nut with a 5/16” internal hex is mounted on the RV side crankshaft half.
The ignition timing is set at 0.110” BTDC.
Silicone has been added between the cooling fins of both the cylinder muff and the cylinder head to help prevent cracking of the cooling fins due to vibration.
In addition, the cooling fins around the exhaust area have been welded to prevent cooling fin breakage.
The engine was last run at Roebling Road on 10-18-20 where I won both vintage races that day.
The last pressure test was good after the most recent engine rebuild.
The engine can easily be converted back to oversize B-Bomb pistons (available from Mike Golombesky of Speed Parts) by installing a cylinder base shim (supplied with the engine) and several cylinder base gaskets.
